Incantation

Briana Queen

Today I lay a curse upon you

A curse that will leave you

Famished for me

With every waking breath

A curse that, with dark ichor

Will poison your dreams

Until your paradise is lost

I curse you to

See me

In every pretty face

Hear me

In every melody

And feel my gaze

Of the scorned lover

In every reflective surface

I curse you to imagine

Whose company I might keep

Over and over again

Until you’re so sick

Of the possibilities

that you almost choke…

But I will not curse you to death

In my book of spells

I have ripped out the rune

for mercy

Instead, I curse you

To suffer without me

While I thrive

Without you
