CLOCKWORK
Caitlyn Hebner
Time takes time to make
Someone carefully placed each piece
of the clock so it is in appropriate working order.
He took each gear, each nut, each bolt
in a specific order so you could know when.
When will you understand you, yourself
are just like a clock. Someone took the time to make you
into a person; took the time to make sure
each little cell was perfectly in place.
Your clock counts down starting from the moment
your clock was finished being constructed.
You are alive, you are living time.
Each breath you take is taken around every 5 seconds;
Over the course of a day, you will have spent over 17,000 seconds
engaged in a breath. Do you notice each breath you take,
do you relish in the fact you are able to do this?
Every second we are given is precious; it only takes
one to change everything. Every moment we are given
is a notch meeting another notch in the complex clockwork
we hold inside. Hear the tick of each second
in the voices of those around you. Someone values being
able to look at the time you show them and wants
to use their seconds looking at the time tick away
to cherish the moments. There is a person somewhere
who believes that you were handcrafted to be
their moment to last forever.
