STAY IN YOUR LANE

Mikayla Calahan

Stay in your lane.
This is not your war,
And your commentary is futile.
Your area of expertise is extrinsic to the topic at hand.

I wish that limp bodies and bullet wounds were

Not in my lane.

Young, old, and everything in between come in to be
Operated on, though the fates of most have already
Undoubtedly been decided.
Ruination once again brought in the form of steel-coated lead.

Lives of the masses are not nearly as important
As the arms that bare the power of mortality,
Naming your rights as soon as they come into question
Except for when they are forsaken in the name of “justice.”
