I never really understood cheating
Until I heard you searched for me in someone else

There was someone else
There’s always someone else

Some days I regret solving the puzzle
Others I regret being blind when finding the pieces

You hated me for that
You hated that I had finally found them
Your shadows of lies were no longer dark enough

I had been convinced it was all in my head
You made me doubt myself to keep me from doubting you

“You’re crazy”
“She’s my best friends little sister”
“She’s 15”

I had swallowed the truth just for it to rip its way back out
Pieces of me still missing
The word trust no longer having meaning

I never really understood cheating
I guess you understood after all

All I’ve ever wanted is for someone to save me…
You saw my emotional state of mind.
The mountains of dark thoughts…
You saw the accidents on my skin, and the accidents within.
I know you’re not supposed to look to other people to save you, but whenever I’m around you, the world has stopped.
My moods lift and the skies shift to hues of blue.
I know I’m meant to save myself, but with you…
I don’t have to.
